1.) Q - Who are Bryon and Mark?
A - Bryon and Mark are two of the main characters of the book and are brothers (not by blood). Mark lives with Bryon and his single mother who always wanted as many kids as she could afford. They also took him in because both of his parents died in a drunken gun fight. Bryon treats Mark like a brother and loves him like one.

2.) Q - Who are the two young people Bryon meets at the hospital?
A - Bryon met two young people at the hospital. Mike who was living across the hallway from Bryon's mother and Cathy, M&M's sister who worked in the hospital snack bar.

3.) Q - What kind of relationship does Bryon have with Charlie?
A - Bryon knows Charlie because Charlie is the older brother of one Bryon's ex-girlfriends.

4.) Q - What happens at the dance?
A - Angela sends someone to beat up Ponyboy Curtis (Mark's Friend). When the man starts to hurt Curtis, Mark steps in and tries to break it up the man smashes an empty beer bottle on Mark's head.

5.) Q - What does Bryon begin to discover in his private conversations with Mark?
A - Bryon discovers in his private conversations with Mark that he was scared that he was smashed on the head head with and empty beer bottle. He also discovers that he he doesn't think of Bryon's mother as his real mother but he thinks of Bryon as a true brother.

6.) Q - What happened to Charlie? How do Bryon and Mark feel about it?
A - Charlie was shot and killed by the Texans while trying to protect Bryon and Mark. Bryon and Mark feel really bad about it. Bryon also thinks that it was his fault because they were the who hustled the Texans.

7.) Q - What do Mark and Cathy think of each other?
A - Mark and Cathy do not like each other because they both want Mark to themselves.

8.) Q - What does Mark do to Angel? Why?
A - Mark cuts off all of Angela's hair and then leaves her on her front lawn drunk with her cut off hair beside her.

9.) Q - In Chapter Seven, what does Bryon begin to discover about his good friend Mark?
A - Bryon discovers that Mark has realized that they are growing apart and does not want that.

10.) Q - What happens to Bryon at Terry Jones' house? How does his attitude change?
A - He gets beaten up by Tim and Curly Shepard. When he is in the hospital we find out the his rib cage is smashed, he has a black eye, and he has stitches on his mouth. His attitude changes because he no longer wants to be involved in the vicious circle of of beating up someone and then getting beaten up by someone.

11.) Q - In Chapter Nine, what happens to M&M? Why does this move Bryon?
A - In Chapter Nine Mark and Cathy go to the Hippie House to look for M&M and his "Travel Agent" directs to the corner of a room where M&M is huddled in the corner on the floor. M&M had done LSD and was hysterical, he spoke of spiders. He appears to have not eaten very much, has grown his hair to his shoulders, and is dirty.

12.) Q - What shocking discovery does Bryon make in Mark's bedroom (Chapter Ten)? What does he do?
A - Bryon is looking for a cigarette to smoke and stumbles upon a cylinder full of pills. Bryon calls the police and they put handcuffs on Mark and take him away to jail.


13.) Q - How does Bryon's relationship with his friends and his attitude toward life completely change?
A - Bryon breaks up with his girlfriend Cathy because he doesn't love her he also stops caring about everything altogether.


14.) Q - How does Bryon feel at the end of the book?
A - Bryon feels like he doesn't care about much of anything and he also feels that he is unsure of the answers.


15.) Q - What did you think about this book and what life message does it teach?
A - I think that this book is very true to life (in that time period) and that it teaches you that so many things can change in a year but not all of them are good changes. I also think that "What Ifs..." should not run your life.
